This month we were delighted to donate to Portsmouth food bank. Everyday people in the UK go hungry for reasons ranging from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income. Portsmouth food bank is helping to put a stop to this, they provide three days of emergency meals and support to people who are living in poverty.13,802 people received food parcels in 2020 alone.This stops people having to make the impossible decision between utility bills or food bills.
There are lots of ways to get involved with raising awareness of poverty and helping end UK hunger, over 40,000 people give up their time to volunteer at the food bank. We jumped at the opportunity to donate, items included anything from a tin of beans and tinned meat to a tube of toothpaste! This now means that people can receive nutritionally balanced, non perishable food.
