helping you stay healthy for life

On 26th February 2020, our Armorgard CuttingStation Xtract (SS7X) was used on site at Fosse Park for the Stay Healthy For Life event with Working Well Together (WWT). Derry Building Services gave students from Leicester college an insight into controlling exposure to construction dust with the innovative Armorgard CuttingStation with extract unit.

WWT was set up in 1998, with the vision that the construction industry needed to do more to improve its health and safety performance – particularly among smaller businesses.

The Stay Healthy For Life event was one of the Safety and Health Awareness Days organised by WWT. The Armorgard CuttingStation Xtract was used as an example of best practice when working with materials that produce dust when cut.

Regularly breathing in dust, caused by cutting or grinding construction materials, can cause life-changing lung diseases. Over 500 construction workers die from exposure to silica dust every single year and workers can still breathe in harmful levels of dust when working outside.

The SS7X is a multi-purpose cutting platform, allowing workers to cut safely at working height whilst the extraction system helps to contain dust, reducing exposure to harmful substances.

When partnered with the Husqvarna A1000 air scrubber, the SS7X can filter 1,000 cubic meters of air per hour, reducing exposure to the operator and others working in the immediate area. The CuttingStation Xtract includes safety features such as rubber matting, noise-cancelling foam, PVC screens to contain sparks and is also fire-rated.

Thank you to Derry Building Services for educating the next generation on best practice when working with dust and highlighting the safe products available - helping them stay healthy for life.
